It was our very great fortune to have been blessed with the love and devotion of our wonderful Yardley for over 15 years.  She was both delightful and devilish; from the day she bounced into our lives, until that sorrowful day when we said our final goodbyes. She was our beloved companion, enriching the lives of our family and charming all that she encountered on her journey through life.

As a puppy, her exuberance was amazing - she was always dancing about 2 feet off the ground.  She was so friendly that she and I failed obedience class because she couldn't resist greeting every person in the room.  Despite her failure, as she grew older, it became evident that she was so bright that you merely had to tell her what to do in sentences, and she did it, or rather she did it if she felt so inclined!  She was amazing with a soccer ball, she could have played goal - you could kick a ball to her and she would bop it back with her nose 50 times in succession and she would never miss.  She always drew a crowd at the soccer field!  It was the same in the swimming pool, she would bop a tennis ball back to you over and over, and often we felt she was more seal than dog…

Her zest for life was evident, even at 15 years of age, when she would still routinely sift through her toy basket looking for a favorite toy to play with.  As well she would routinely comb through the waste baskets in the children's rooms to see if there might be a wad of discarded gum that she might chew.  Her antics kept us amused always - at Christmastime she would always check under the tree, sniff each gift and delicately unwrap all the items for her, even when it was just a dog toy, she always knew!

Yardley was everything that you could ever ask for in a dog - she had beauty and grace, an amazing mixture of intelligence and humor, and a sweet, frolicsome and loving nature that lasted all her life.  We miss her so much, and cherish all the treasured memories that will stay will us always.
